Description of The Way of the Samurai

Overcome challenges, discover your inner strength, walk with your team the path to success

Put the wisdom of the Samurai warriors into practice with your team

The Samurai are a thousand-year-old tradition in Japan. These unbeatable warriors are, beyond an example of excellence, the result of an entire philosophy of life: bushido, or the way of the warrior. This code of honour required the utmost concentration from them and the completion of a whole series of trials pursuing the greatest technical, behavioural and spiritual perfection, making them capable of facing and overcoming any challenge, and turning them into icons of this ancient culture.

These Japanese warriors are respected worldwide, because both individually and together with their unit, their training through the way of the Samurai and its principles turn them into invincible warriors.

With this fascinating Team Building activity, each participant will dig deep into their own strengths, discovering how they can best serve their team, boosting their capabilities and discovering their leadership potential, while as a group, participants will discover how the ability to concentrate, unite as a team and give their best resources toward a common goal leads them to success.

Benefits of the Way of the Samurai

The Way of the Samurai is a unique activity in which attendees will experience an unforgettable adventure — at Kaizen we'd even dare to say it will change many of their lives.

Throughout the activity, high-impact dynamics will be proposed that will push participants out of their comfort zone, overcoming deep fears, breaking paradigms and living an incredible experience. They won't be the same again!

Our instructors will begin by talking about feedback: what it is and what makes it effective (geared towards experiential training).

A first feedback dynamic is carried out to experience and internalise how to do it, and after this, we move on to the blind bridge dynamic, which adds work on trusting the team's feedback in order to achieve our individual goals and help the group reach its objectives.

An ideal dynamic for becoming aware of the beliefs we hold, how some of them limit our lives, and how we can easily "break" them once we find the determination to do so.

In this activity, we work on limiting beliefs, the fears they involve, and determination as a tool to change everything, self-confidence, personal empowerment, etc.

Although the activity can be run with large groups, each person works individually on their own beliefs and experiences the emotion of breaking them, opening up to a world full of new possibilities.

This dynamic continues working on determination to empower the individual and free them from their biggest fears. We see this in everyday company life, through decisions we find hard to make, that we keep putting off, circumstances we need to face and don't dare to, etc.

Breaking that arrow resting against the throat lets us experience that, usually, the biggest challenge we face when it comes to life's circumstances is our own fears and assumptions, and that, once we face them, they break easily.

This activity reinforces the empowerment from the previous exercise and increases self-confidence.

A high-performing team must grow in a context of trust, where there's no room for criticism or judgement, where everyone feels free to express themselves naturally, so the best ideas can emerge without fear or hesitation.

In this activity, participants will fall backwards from a height of 2-3 metres, and their team, using special tarps like those firefighters use in rescues, will catch them, symbolising the team's protection of its members.
